WHAT IS CBD?
CBD is an acronym for cannabidiol which is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in cannabis or hemp plants. CBD is said to work by boosting the body’s endocannabinoid system - a system best described by Nicholas DiPatrizio, Ph.D as “a unique signalling pathway that controls the function of a variety of systems throughout the body, including food intake and energy balance, learning and memory, and pain processing, to name a few”.
DOES IT WORK?
Because of the legal ambiguity surrounding the cannabis plant in the UK and US, scientific research has frustratingly been limited. Therefore we aren’t allowed to make any specific claims. The internet suggests CBD has been used to address a variety of conditions, from anxiety, insomnia, inflammation to arthritis pain.
WIILL CBD MAKE ME HIGH?
Don’t worry, BLOCKHEAD CBD Gum is hemp-derived and contains less than 0.05% THC, which means you won’t get any feelings of intoxication - or the munchies 😏. It’s also non-psychoactive and non-intoxicating, meaning it will not create the same “buzzy” effects that are typically associated with marijuana.
IS CBD LEGAL IN THE UK?
There is a great deal of confusion when it comes to the legality of CBD in the UK. While the vast majority of cannabinoids are considered “controlled substances” under the Misuse of Drugs Act, CBD is an exception and is entirely legal in the UK provided it has been derived from an industrial hemp strain that is EU approved - which ours is 😉.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I TAKE?
CBD is unique in that an effective dose can be very different between two people. Start with a small amount, about 3 to 10 milligrams or 1 to 3 pieces of our CBD gum and go from there. If you feel no adverse effects, then feel free to up it. The benefit of BLOCKHEAD CBD Gum, with 3mg per gum, is that unlike drops or tinctures, you can easily tailor your exact dose depending on your preference.
IS CBD SAFE?
CBD is safe to consume for most people, but there is a very slight chance of some potential mild side effects, the most common being drowsiness, diarrhoea, and changes in appetite. If you are on medication, check with your doctor before taking CBD as it has the potential to interfere with some medicines.
BLOCKHEAD CBD Gum is a food supplement and is not intended to, treat, cure or prevent any disease, illness or issue.
